As promised this week here is the matching diaper cover for the deer newborn hat! This pattern is very easy and beginner friendly to follow.

Materials

  • 5mm crochet hook
  • Red heart yarn fall and orange
  • Crochet Needle
  • Orange felt
  • Orange string
  • Needle thread
  • Scissors
  • Orange Button

Abbreviation

  • CH: Chain
  • DC: Double Crochet
  • SL ST: Slip Stitch
  • DEC: Decrease
  • SC: Single Crochet
  • F/O: Fasten Off

Pattern Notes

Ch 2 does count as first stitch.

Gauge: 4 stitches and 4 rows= 2 inches

Finished Size: 15″ width 6″ height

With fall yarn
Row 1: ch 47, dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc across (46)
Row 2-3: ch 2, dc across (46)
Row 4: sl st in first 10 stitches, ch 2, dc in next 25, there should be 10 stitches left that you do not crochet in (26)
Row 5: dc across (26)
Row 6: ch 2, dec, dc in the next 21 dc, dec (24)
Row 7: ch 2, dec, dc in the next 19 dc, dec (22)


Row 8: Ch 2, dec, dc in next 17 dc, dec (20)
Row 9:Ch 2, dec, dc in the next 15 dc, dec (18)
Row 10: Ch 2, dec, dc in the next 13 dc, dec (16)
Row 11: Ch 2, dec, dc in the next 11 dc, dec (14)
Row 12-19: DC across (14)
F/O
Change color to orange sc around the diaper. When coming to a side put 2 sc in the corners.

Assembly

  • Apply orange button in the center under the orange outline, which is row 19. I used the blank yarn to sew the button in.
  • Sew the orange deer felt on the back of the diaper at row 8.
